The Carolina Kids Classic directly benefits the children of North Carolina. Since its inception in 1988, the Tournament has raised over $3 million to benefit the thousands of children who come to Chapel Hill each year for health care and related services. The Tournament benefits the following charities...
North Carolina Children’s Hospital provides children from all over our state with a facility that offers complete care in one location. Each year more than 70,000 children come to UNC for diagnosis and state-of-the-art treatment. The Children’s Hospital includes a comprehensive outpatient center, a short stay unit, and 140 in-patient beds. Special features include large, all-private rooms, an indoor two-story play atrium, and one of the state’s only accredited K-12 hospital schools.
The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill is a beacon of hope for these families experiencing what may well be one of the worst times they will ever know. From a warm place to rest to a community of people who know how they feel, who can share their experiences and support during the tough times. The House provides for these families with 29 hotel-style guest rooms that offer patients, parents and siblings the chance to stay close during tough times. This spring, the House will open the Ronald McDonald Family Room on the seventh floor of NC Children’s Hospital to serve even more families.
The Childhood Trust is a volunteer group whose mission is to provide funding and educational outreach for the UNC Department of Psychiatry's Program on Childhood Trauma and Maltreatment (PCYM). This outpatient clinical program at UNC Hospitals began in 1998 with a generous grant from Linnea and Dean Smith. The program offers comprehensive treatment services to abused children and their famllies, as well as training and case consultation to mental health, social service and law enforcement professionals across the state.
